2010 Herb Tour of Southern England Cancelled

Mary and Martha are very sad to announce that the Herb Gardens of Southern England Tour, scheduled for July 2010, has been cancelled due to lack of subscription. We were so sure that this tour would appeal to many interested travelers. It had:

  • A wonderful assortment of flower and herb gardens
  • A morning with Rosamund Wallinger, restorer of the Jekyll garden at the Manor House, Upton Grey
  • Three nights each in Kent, Winchester, the Cotswolds, and London
  • And an amazing price of only $3,699 for 14 days, including air from Chicago

We are especially disappointed, because we were looking forward to renewing our friendship with Rosamund at the Manor House garden, and to seeing a number of new locations and gardens. We had hoped that this would be the year that we finally got to Hatfield House, where John Tradescant, one of our “garden heroes” helped to lay out the 17th century gardens.

Meanwhile, the England in Miniatures Tour is starting to sell, so we’re hopeful that we will get to the Lake District, York, and Stratford upon Avon this September. Although this tour was planned with dollhouse and miniature enthusiasts in mind, it will be a wonderful opportunity for anyone who would like to travel to areas of England that are often missed when concentrating on London and the south. We’ve been reading up on the life of Beatrix Potter, and are looking forward to seeing the Lake District area that she loved and did so much to protect. York is one of our favorite cities for exploring, and if you’re not interested in attending the Birmingham Miniature Show, you can spend a whole free day in beautiful Stratford upon Avon.

Please contact us if you have any questions about our England in Miniature Tour or if you have a group that would like to have us design a tour especially for you.
